Helpful Tips for Hair Loss from COVID: What You Can Do to Help

Most people associate noticeable hair loss with cancer, but it can also be caused by other conditions that affect the body. Hereditary hair loss is one of the big causes of hair loss -- As well as male pattern hair loss, there is also a large amount of female pattern hair loss that women experience often. On top of these natural hair loss experiences, there are many illnesses and diseases that can cause thinning hair or patchy hair loss. With the rise in COVID cases in the world, we're seeing a larger pattern of hair loss due to COVID. Hair loss is a difficult condition to live with and often requires medical attention, but there are some things you can do on your own to make life easier.

Is hair loss really something that you need to treat?

Hair loss is not something that you need to treat! If you're comfortable rocking thinning hair or going all the way and shaving your head, we encourage you to do so. When you're more comfortable in your body, you can be a more confident and beautiful version of yourself!

For some people, however, sudden hair loss from covid can cause a lot of emotional stress and anxiety. Some effects of hair loss include poor self-esteem, depression, and mental health issues that make it hard to get through the day sometimes. Hair loss is often caused by stressful situations or conditions in one's life but this doesn't mean you should feel ashamed about your condition. Hair loss itself isn't something to be embarrassed about because there are many other medical conditions out there that lead to similar circumstances as well.

Get support and advice from others.

One thing you can do if you're experiencing hair loss due to COVID is get involved with social media groups on sites like Facebook where others who have the same experiences share stories and support each other during difficult times while treating their conditions. These groups are often a great place to get advice as well for what has worked for others, but advice on forums like this should also be taken with a grain of salt, as what works for others may not work for you.

Have a doctor provide medical advice.

You can also reach out to your doctor who can likely give you advice based on their own experiences with other patients. Hair loss in the context of COVID is not well studied, so it's important to seek out information from multiple sources since there are limited resources for this condition specifically available online or elsewhere.
