Choosing the right foundation shade doesn't have to be overwhelming.
Determining your undertones is an essential step in finding the right foundation shade that complements your skin. Here are some ways you can determine your undertones:
- Check Your Veins: Look at the veins in your wrist or forearm. If they appear blue or purple, you have cool undertones. If they appear green or olive, you have warm undertones. If you can't tell whether your veins are blue or green, you may have neutral undertones.
- Examine Your Skin in Natural Light: Stand in natural light, such as near a window, and examine your skin. If your skin appears pinkish or rosy, you have cool undertones. If your skin appears yellowish or golden, you have warm undertones. If you can't tell whether your skin is pink or yellow, you may have neutral undertones.
- Take a Jewelry Test: Try on gold and silver jewelry to see which one complements your skin better. If gold jewelry looks better on you, you have warm undertones. If silver jewelry looks better on you, you have cool undertones. If both gold and silver jewelry looks good on you, you may have neutral undertones.
- Consider Your Natural Hair and Eye Color: Women with warm undertones usually have brown, green, or hazel eyes and warm hair colors like golden blonde, red, or brown with golden or red highlights. Women with cool undertones usually have blue or gray eyes and cool hair colors like ash blonde, black, or brown with blue or ash highlights. Those with neutral undertones can have a mix of warm and cool features.
By using these methods, you can determine your undertones and choose a foundation shade that complements your skin and enhances your natural beauty.
