Now that winter is over and spring has sprung, your skincare needs will change! Spring weather can be unpredictable, making it difficult for your skin to adjust, but with these tips, you can keep your skin healthy and glowing through the seasons.
Why are spring skincare tips different than the rest of the year?
As winter comes to an end, skin becomes drier and more sensitive than usual. However, with the first signs of spring, it's hard to predict just how long this transition period will last. That's why it's important to take extra special care of your skin in the springtime.
Which skincare tips should I follow?
Switch to lighter products
As the weather warms up, you might want to switch from heavy creams in winter to lighter lotions in spring. Your hair is growing warmer under the sun, and your skin requires the same. Look for products labeled oil-free, water-based, or non-greasy.
Use a daily moisturizer with SPF 30+
Use only sunscreen products that provide both UVA and UVB protection (the best ones say "broad spectrum" on the label). You should use a generous amount of sunscreen every day; we recommend 1 ounce (30 ml), which is about what fits in a golf ball container. Apply it evenly to all exposed areas of your body 15 minutes before heading outside. Reapply after being in the sun or swimming. Sunscreen needs time to bind to the skin so give it at least 5 minutes after applying before going out of direct sunlight!
Use facial wipes
Now that you're spending most days outside, you'll want to make sure your face is almost as clean as your hands. You should remove all dirt, sweat, or anything else lingering on your face with a cleansing facial wipe every day before going to bed for fresh-looking skin when you wake up!
Use a facial moisturizer
A good sunscreen is only one part of good sun protection. To keep your skin looking healthy and plump, you should apply a daily moisturizer every morning before putting on makeup. It will even out your skin tone or fix any dry areas that need it!
Exfoliate
Exfoliation is as important during spring as it is in the winter! If you have dry, chapped skin from being cooped up inside all winter, try an exfoliating scrub a few times a week to slough it off and reveal your beautiful new skin underneath.
