Have questions about our ingredients, how our products are made, or which formulas may be right for you? You are in the right place. We believe you deserve to know what is in the products you use every day, so we are committed to clear ingredient information and thoughtfully made skincare and makeup.
Our therapeutic skincare is formulated and handcrafted in small batches in Port Republic, Virginia. We make, fill, label, and pack our skincare products with care. Our makeup is not manufactured in-house; it is made for us by a professional cosmetic laboratory in the United States according to our ingredient and quality standards.
Yes. Our skincare is handcrafted in Virginia, and our makeup is manufactured by a U.S. cosmetic laboratory. We source ingredients and packaging from trusted suppliers, so the country of origin of individual components may vary.
Our products are formulated to be alpha-gal friendly and are made without mammal-derived ingredients commonly avoided by people with alpha-gal syndrome. However, alpha-gal sensitivities can differ greatly from person to person, and ingredients or supplier sources may change. Please review the full ingredient list on the individual product page and packaging before use. If you have alpha-gal syndrome or a severe allergy, consult your allergist or healthcare provider before trying any new personal-care product. Contact us if you would like help reviewing a specific formula.
All Taylor Made Organics products are cruelty-free, and most are vegan. A small number of products, including certain herbal salves, contain beeswax and are not vegan. Please check the ingredient list on each product page or contact us if you need help selecting a vegan option.
We use organic, certified-organic, naturally derived, and minimally processed ingredients whenever they are appropriate and available. Not every finished product is USDA Certified Organic, so we encourage you to review the complete ingredient list for each formula rather than relying on a blanket claim.
Our formulas are made without parabens, propylene glycol, sulfates, mineral oil, petroleum, ureas, phthalates, artificial colors, synthetic fragrance, or perfume. Because every product is different, always review the ingredient list on its product page if you have a specific sensitivity or allergy.
No. We do not use synthetic fragrance, perfume, or fragrance oils. Some products are unscented, while others have a natural aroma from pure essential oils, herbs, botanical extracts, or the raw ingredients themselves. “Unscented” does not always mean completely odorless.
When a formula includes essential oils, we use pure essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils. Essential oils are potent botanical ingredients, so customers with sensitive skin, allergies, or medical concerns should review each ingredient list and patch test before regular use.
No artificial colors or synthetic dyes are added to our skincare. Natural variations in color may come from herbs, botanical extracts, clays, minerals, or essential oils. Our mineral makeup receives its color from cosmetic-grade mineral pigments and micas rather than synthetic dyes.
We use preservation systems selected for the needs of each individual formula. Depending on the product, these may include plant-derived ingredients such as glyceryl caprylate, glyceryl undecylenate, lactobacillus ferment, and coconut fruit extract, along with ingredients such as vitamin E, rosemary extract, potassium sorbate, or citric acid when appropriate. Our current formulas do not use phenoxyethanol. Please refer to the product label or online ingredient list for the ingredients in a specific product.
Any formula containing water can be vulnerable to bacteria, yeast, and mold. An effective preservation system helps keep the product safe and stable throughout its intended shelf life. Vitamin E alone is an antioxidant and helps slow oil oxidation, but it does not replace a complete preservative system in a water-based product.
We choose cold-pressed oils whenever appropriate because low-temperature processing helps preserve many of the oils’ naturally occurring fatty acids and other beneficial components.
We use organic, fair-trade, raw, unrefined shea butter. Its natural color may range from ivory to tan, and its scent and texture can vary slightly from batch to batch. These variations are normal characteristics of a minimally processed botanical butter.
Natural ingredients are affected by the season, harvest, and growing conditions. Because we use herbs, cold-pressed oils, unrefined butters, clays, minerals, and botanical extracts, slight differences in color, aroma, or texture are normal and do not necessarily indicate a problem with the product.
Shelf life varies by formula. Always follow the expiration date or period-after-opening symbol on the product when one is provided. As a general guide:
Replace any product sooner if you notice an unusual change in odor, color, texture, or performance. Products used near the eyes, especially mascara and liquid eyeliner, should be replaced regularly and never shared.
Keep products tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, humidity, and freezing temperatures. Avoid storing products in a hot vehicle. Use clean, dry hands or a clean spatula with jarred products, and do not add water to the container.
Warm weather and shipping conditions can soften or liquefy a natural salve. Place the closed container upright in a cool room or refrigerate it briefly until it firms. Melting may change the texture, but it does not necessarily make the product unusable. If the product smells unusual or appears contaminated, discontinue use and contact us.
We offer several formulas created with sensitive skin in mind, but “natural” does not mean allergen-free. Skin sensitivities are individual, and botanical ingredients and essential oils can cause reactions in some people. Review the complete ingredient list and patch test a small area before regular use.
Apply a small amount to a discreet area of clean skin and wait 24–48 hours. If redness, itching, swelling, burning, or irritation develops, wash the area and discontinue use. Seek medical care for a severe reaction. A patch test cannot guarantee that a future reaction will not occur.
Ingredient needs can be different during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Because each person and product is different, review the full ingredient list and ask your healthcare provider before use, especially when a product contains essential oils or active ingredients. We do not recommend relying on a general “pregnancy-safe” claim in place of personalized medical advice.
Only use a product on a baby or child when the product directions specifically indicate that it is appropriate for that age. Follow the directions carefully, avoid the eyes and mouth, and consult your child’s healthcare provider if you have questions. Keep all products out of children’s reach.
Our formulas are made without intentionally added wheat or gluten ingredients. However, they are not produced in a certified gluten-free facility. Anyone with a severe allergy or medical concern should review the ingredient list and consult a healthcare professional before use.
We use glass where it is practical, but choose lightweight, recyclable plastic for many products used around sinks, showers, tubs, children, or travel. This helps reduce the risk of broken glass. Recycling availability varies by location, so please check your local guidelines.
Saponification is the process that turns oils and an alkali solution into soap. When properly formulated and cured, the reaction creates soap and naturally occurring glycerin. Our handcrafted soaps are allowed time to cure for a milder, longer-lasting bar.
Our cosmetic and personal-care products are intended to cleanse, moisturize, condition, and support the appearance and feel of the skin. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. If you have a medical condition, are taking medication, or have a serious allergy, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
The full ingredient list is available on each product page and on the product packaging. Because we continue to improve our formulas, the packaging you receive is the most current source. If an online list and a product label appear different, contact us before use so we can help confirm the formula.
Please contact Taylor Made Organics with the product name and your specific question. If you are asking about an allergy or sensitivity, tell us which ingredient you are trying to avoid so we can help you review the current formula. We are happy to provide ingredient information, but we cannot offer individual medical advice.
